The Community

So it's been a couple days of endless thinking since I ended my last blog series. I knew that I would start another blog because I can't just stop writing. It's my passion. It's something I love to do and it's something I enjoy sharing with others. I also really love journalism, so I like to share experiences and dive into things that aren't particularly well known. My last blog was more of a self exploration autobiography. It impacted my life in such a way that now I feel I can grow even more, but in different ways.

My new blog is going to be about something a bit different. One thing I've always wanted to do is get to know the LGBTQ Charlotte community. I want to understand more about the people I coexist with and relate to. I want to know what we're all fighting for. I want to know what our local struggles are. I want to know about the people and things that don't always get a spot light on them. All too often I find that Gay and Lesbian people get a large portion of the spotlight when it comes to LGBTQ etc rights and understanding. But hardly ever do we hear about what it means to be transgenered or gender queer. Cross dressing and drag are hardly ever explored. We rarely get to hear the stories of lesbian and gay parents and their struggles, especially here in the south. These are some of the things I'd really like to look into and put a spotlight on in the coming months. The people that live these lives. The people who go through those struggles that I can only try to relate to but will never completely understand, even as a Gay man. They deserve a spot light too. They deserve to be heard. It's my goal, even as just a small blog that no one really reads or cares about, to give them that much deserved spot light so that others can begin to understand what they go through and why they fight as well.

I look forward to the coming months, not only because I get to share with everyone about stuff even I may not know, but because I will finally get to know my community more. I really encourage those who already follow my blog to keep following, and I really hope that through this more people will start to read. I'm really trying to take a genuine journalistic approach to this, and the more people who read this the more I can be critiqued on things I should work on. So please, throughout the coming months encourage others to read and please let me know if there is anything I should change about my blogging.

Thanks everyone,
-Chad
